Course Description

Part 2 of the Wheelchair Certifiication Program. This focused course prepares pediatric therapists to evaluate, fit, and make clinical recommendations for commonly prescribed adaptive equipment. Emphasis is placed on functional alignment, safety, growth considerations, and caregiver use across environments. The course supports therapists in developing observable proficiency with adaptive seating and mobility equipment frequently encountered in pediatric practice.


Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate clinical reasoning for selecting appropriate adaptive equipment
  2. Identify key fitting and alignment considerations for common pediatric equipment
  3. Recognize safety and growth-related factors that impact equipment use
  4. Analyze functional goals supported by each equipment type
  5. Provide caregiver education related to daily use and positioning
  6. Identify when referral to advanced seating or vendor support is indicated
